Green crackers in Nagercoil: 65 CSIR-NEERI certified boxes from ₹17

The legal position in Nagercoil starts from the same two national orders that apply everywhere, and Kanyakumari district doesn't add a separate cracker-specific ban on top of them. What does shift, at least in recent seasons, is the state layer: Tamil Nadu has issued its own tighter clock windows rather than leaving the full national ~2-hour band as the default, with one recent notification setting bursting hours at 6-7 AM and 7-8 PM instead of the commonly cited 8-10 PM slot (The Hindu). These state hours are set fresh each year, so treat any past figure as a pattern, not a promise, and confirm the exact 2026 clock times before lighting anything.

Two national orders set the floor here. Supreme Court, 23 Oct 2018 (WP(C) 728/2015): permitted manufacture/sale of green crackers, banned barium-salt and joined crackers, limited Diwali bursting to a ~2-hour window (commonly 8–10 PM). NGT, 9 Nov & 1 Dec 2020 (O.A. 249/2020): ban on firecrackers in poor-air-quality regions including the NCR. Our green crackers guide explains what the CSIR-NEERI formulations change.

For anything newer, check the 2026 notification from the Nagercoil city police or the Tamil Nadu pollution control board.
