Diwali crackers in Kannur 2026: 124 boxes from ₹15, 90% off MRP

Kannur applies the same Diwali rules as the rest of Kerala and, in fact, the rest of the country, with no separate municipal order narrowing the national window further. The city's low-key Diwali culture does not mean a looser legal position, it means fewer households buying, not different rules for the ones who do. Whatever the volume, the same floor applies: only CSIR-NEERI green-certified crackers are legal to sell or burst, joined strings and barium-salt items stay banned everywhere, and the roughly two-hour bursting window is fixed by the national order rather than by local custom.

Whatever the state adds, two nationwide orders come first. Supreme Court, 23 Oct 2018 (WP(C) 728/2015): permitted manufacture/sale of green crackers, banned barium-salt and joined crackers, limited Diwali bursting to a ~2-hour window (commonly 8–10 PM). NGT, 9 Nov & 1 Dec 2020 (O.A. 249/2020): ban on firecrackers in poor-air-quality regions including the NCR. Our green crackers guide explains what the CSIR-NEERI formulations change.

For anything newer, check the 2026 notification from the Kannur city police or the Kerala pollution control board.
