Nine years later, the same testing partnership between MPCB and the Awaaz Foundation ran 16 widely-sold firecracker varieties through the RCF ground in Chembur, Mumbai. The Reduced Ceiling for Joined and Series Crackers
A hundred crackers bound into one garland aren't judged against the same 125 dB(AI) number as a single stand-alone cracker. The Supreme Court's order reduces the permitted ceiling by 5 log₁₀(N) dB, where N is the count of crackers joined in that series.
Run the numbers on two common trade sizes. A 100-wala string has N = 100; log₁₀(100) = 2, so the reduction is 5 × 2 = 10 dB, dropping the ceiling from 125 dB(AI) to 115 dB(AI).
