Green Crackers vs Eco Crackers

There's a genuine, checkable standard behind "green crackers": PESO and CPCB certification, tied to CSIR-NEERI's reduced-emission formulations, marked with a specific logo and QR code on the packaging. That's the thing you can verify. "Eco crackers" has no equivalent body issuing that label. It's a term sellers use because it sounds reassuring, and in most cases it's describing the exact same certified green product, just with different words on the listing.

That doesn't mean the word is meaningless or dishonest by default. Most of the time "eco" on a firecracker listing genuinely does refer to a green-certified item. The risk is that "eco" alone gives you nothing to check. A green claim points you to a logo and QR code you can inspect before buying; an "eco" claim, on its own, doesn't point anywhere. So the sensible move isn't to distrust every "eco" listing. It's to confirm the green certification marker is present regardless of which word the listing uses.

This matters more for firecrackers than most other product categories because the certification is doing real work: it's the difference between the reduced-emission, reduced-sound formulation and the older conventional composition it replaced. A retailer using "eco" as a synonym for a certified product is fine. A retailer using "eco" to imply something without the certification backing it up is the scenario worth watching for, and the only way to tell the two apart is checking for the actual green marker, not the word choice on the label.
