Eyes: Distance Is the Real Protection

If you or your children are sensitive to noise, standing further back than the minimum, and choosing lower-noise items for the youngest in the group, does more for comfort than any legal ceiling does.
Timing matters too. PESO's general rule is no sound-emitting firecrackers between 10 pm and 6 am; some states set narrower, court-ordered windows for specific festivals, so check your city's rule before you assume the general window applies.
